Edward A. Polons

Edward A. Polons, 82, formerly of Ashley, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Golden Living Summit Nursing Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Born May 7, 1930, he was the son of the late Edward and Gertrude Blockus Polons.

Ed was a graduate of Hanover Township High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy as a machinist's mate third class aboard the USS Orleck during the Korean War.

He retired from Proctor and Gamble in 1992.

He was a loving and devoted husband, dad, pop and great-grandpop. Ed was a loyal Penn State and Phillies fan. An avid hunter, gardener, canner and kielbasa maker extraordinaire, his love and passion for teaching these fine arts to his family and friends will be passed on for generations.

The love of his life, his wife, Betty, preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Clem.

Surviving are his son, Edward R. Polons and his wife, Sue, Ashley; son, David J. Polons and his wife, Molly, Ashley; son, Randy W. Polons, Bear Creek; daughter, Kelly Yedlock and her husband, Jim, Ashley; his grandchildren, Joleen Williams, Edward Polons, David Polons and Brooke Troxell and her husband, Jason; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Williams, Olivia Polons and Loretta and Luke Troxell.

Ed will also be missed by his brother, John Polons and wife, Lucille; sister, Gertrude Metroka and husband, Anthony; and friends and family.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of the staff of Golden Living for the wonderful care Ed received while in their care.

A memorial service will take place at 8 p.m. Sunday from George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley, with the Rev. Rebecca Tanner officiating. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and donations may be made in Edward's name to a .
