Edward (Iggy) Boyle, of Goose Island section of Wilkes-Barre passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Hospice Unit of Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born March 29, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late James and Grace Hivish Boyle. He attended St. Leo's School, Ashley.
He was a Marine Corp. veteran of the
Korean conflict. He was formerly employed as a Wilkes-Barre
fireman for more than 25 years, and a crossing guard at St. Aloyius School, Wilkes-Barre, for more than 15 years.
Iggy coached and played softball throughout the Wyoming Valley and was an avid Penn State, Dallas Cowboy, Chicago Cubs and Terry Labonte fan. He was a member and former board member of the Oak Grove Club, Wilkes-Barre. He and his wife, the former Jean Lowe, celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary Nov. 19, 2012.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Jim and his wife, Betsy Boyle, Mountain Top; daughter, Lisa Boyle and friend, Nicole Mailette; grandchildren, James and McKenzie Boyle; sister, Catherine and her husband, Jerry Baluta, Mountain Top; and a niece and nephew.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Morgan and John Boyle.
Arrangements are by Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
