Elizabeth Mest, 78, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
She was born Jan. 17, 1936, in Bristol, and was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Harry Mellor.
She was formerly employed by VFW
Post 1425 in Plymouth as a bartender.
Elizabeth loved animals and was a caretaker to many.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Kathleen Mest and Connie Beasley; husband, George Mest Jr.; companion, Ronald Kashubski; and grandson, Matthew Yonas.
She is survived by her children, Patty Cocchie and husband, Danny, Pottstown; Debra Watkins, Larksville; Terry Puryear and husband, Al, Norristown; David Mest Sr. and his wife, Lexy, Owego, N.Y.; grandchild, Brandy Mest, who resided with her grandmother; and numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday from Williams-Hagen Funeral Home Inc., 114 W. Main St., Plymouth, with the Rev. Ronald Cease officiating. Friends may call Monday from 5 p.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Luzerne County SPCA, 524 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
