Elizabeth E. Sipple, 76, of Indian Lake, Buck Township, died of a stroke Tuesday morning, Oct. 23, 2012, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
Born May 24, 1936, in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Margaret Hannadel Lippa.
Betty was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, where she was recognized for her academic achievement. Before retiring, Betty was employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District for nearly 30 years.
Betty was a member of the Parish of St. Elizabeth, Bear Creek.
She was active in local politics and served as a democratic committeewoman in Buck Township for more than 25 years.
A brother, Sylvester Lippa, preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Raymond Sipple; children, Raymond Sipple Jr. and his wife, Ann Marie, Frank Sipple and his wife, Brenda, Ann Marie Brudnicki, James Sipple and his wife, Denise, Kathleen Sipple and her partner, Elsie, and Joseph Sipple and his wife, Ann; grandchildren, Raymond, III, Grace, Renee, Frank Jr., Jacob, Erin, P.J., Holly, Melissa, Nicole, James Jr., Matthew, Joseph Jr. and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Raymond IV, Cassie, Amy, Kylee, Aiden, Alexis, Ashli Nicole, Taylor Leigh, Megan and Raeonna; sisters, Margaret Sterbinsky and Theresa DiFranseco; other family and friends.
A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from McLaughlin's − The Family Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Elizabeth. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
