Ernest Daniel Wolfe

Ernest Wolfe, 91, of Dallas passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, at The Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas.

He was born in Scranton, son of the late Ernest Daniel and Josephine Martin Wolfe, and graduated from Scranton Technical School in 1941.

Ernest worked for four years at Curtis Wright in New Jersey, then for 35 years as a machinist for Native Textiles in Dallas.

Known to most as Ernie, and to many as "Mr. Bones," he was happiest playing his bones for many different functions. including for his great-grandchildren's music classes, in church, for the Irem String Band, and as recently as March 12 for the enjoyment of all in his physical therapy sessions at The Meadows. A licensed private pilot, he also enjoyed flying his son-in-law's Cessna 172, riding his motorcycle, water sports, attending his great-grandchildren's music performances, playing in his church handbell choir, traveling, and dancing with his wife, daughter and granddaughters.

He was a member of Dallas United Methodist Church, the Harveys Lake Yacht Club, George M. Dallas Lodge 531, F&AM, and the Shriners of the Irem Temple in Dallas as part of the String Band.

In addition to his parents Ernie was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Nora Mae, and sister, Mildred.

He is survived by daughter, Nancy Campbell and husband, Dale, Dallas; granddaughters, Dawn Blom, and husband, George, Plains Township; Dr. Dwin Campbell Doran and husband, Dr. Thomas Doran, Dallas; and great-grandchildren, Amanda Blom, Matthew Blom, Thomas Ernest Doran and Erika Doran.

Funeral services will be held in Dallas United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Robert Wood officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. preceding the funeral services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dallas United Methodist Church, 4 Parsonage St., Dallas, PA 18612.
