Ethel G. Rynkiewicz, 89, formerly of State Street, Nanticoke, passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov. 20, 2012, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She had been a resident of Birchwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Nanticoke, since February 2010.
Born on Aug. 26, 1923, in Dundee, Minn., she was the daughter of the late John and Elsie Uhlken Borretsky. After her marriage to Edward P. Rynkiewicz, she resided in Plymouth briefly and in Nanticoke since 1946.
Early in life, Ethel was employed doing housekeeping for the Volpe and Fainberg families. She worked at General Cigar Company, Nanticoke, for 27 years and later at the former Leader Store, Nanticoke, for 12 years. She was last employed at Nabisco, Hanover Township, for three years before retiring.
She was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke, and prior to its closing, she had been a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward P. Rynkiewicz, on Oct. 20, 1989; her son, Gerald Rynkiewicz, on July 2, 1987; two brothers, Lester Borretsky in 1987, and Cyril Borretsky in 2004.
Surviving are a granddaughter, Michelle Danko, Exeter; two nephews, Cyril Borretsky Jr. and Ed Borretsky; and special friends, Bruce and Sandy Najaka and family, Nanticoke.
A Memorial Service is being planned for a future date.
There will be no calling hours. Private interment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Nanticoke.
