Frank A. Jescavage, 73, of Fairmount Township, Benton, and Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away peacefully at Fox Chase Cancer Center Wednesday morning, Oct. 23, 2013.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Frank and Jennie Jesikiewicz (Jescavage). He was a graduate of Meyers High School, Class of 1958.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy
, and served on board the USS Cassin Young, which is now anchored in Boston Harbor next to the USS Constitution.
He worked as a manufacturer's representative in the automotive aftermarket industry, where he garnered many sales awards. He retired in 1996 from Autoreps Inc., Cherry Hill, N.J.
He was a longtime member of the Train Collectors Association of America, and was an avid collector of Lionel HO trains. He was known in toy train circles as "Plasticville Frank" and "The Mayor of Plasticville." He served as an assistant scoutmaster, president of the Warrior Run/Askam Community Service Association, was a member of the Hanover Area Quarterback Club, Hanover Area Band Parents Association, and was past president of the Shickshinny Lake Association. He was a social member of the American Legion, Shickshinny. He was also chairman of the 55th reunion committee of the Meyers High School Class of 1958.
Frank was a member of Holy Spirit Parish at St. Martha's Church, Stillwater, where he served as director of altar servers, lector and sacristan. He was also lector and director of altar servers at Holy Family Parish, Sugar Notch.
Frank was extremely proud of his Polish heritage. He journeyed to Poland in 1989, where he toured various historical sites and met Lech Walesa, president of Poland, and Cardinal Glemp, the Polish primate of the Roman Catholic Church.
He was an avid fisherman, loved animals and traveling.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Georgette Mary Jescavage.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jane Johns, the love of his life. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in August. He is also survived by his daughter, Camille H. Jescavage and her companion, Jack Adams, Hunlock Creek; a son, Frank A. Jescavage and his wife, Rhonda, Edmond, Okla.; a daughter, Melaniejane J. Yozwiak and her husband, Charles, Pittston Township; grandchildren, Justin F. Jescavage and his wife, Randa, Edmond, Okla.; Brittany D. Jescavage, Edmond, Okla.; Mallory J. Yozwiak, Pittston Township; and Meredith A. Yozwiak, Pittston Township; numerous nieces and nephews; and his three cats.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Clarke Piatt Funeral Home Inc., 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Martha's Parish, Stillwater.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.
