George Washington Gaylord, 88, of Trucksville passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at The Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas.
Born in Meshoppen, George was the son of the late Harold and Lillian Remaley Gaylord. He was a graduate of Meshoppen High School, Class of 1942.
George was employed as a machinist by Vulcan Iron Works and retired in 1989 after 38 years with the Royer Foundry, Kingston.
A resident of Trucksville for most of his life, George was an active member of the Back Mountain Food Bank and Odd Fellows of Dallas. He was an avid Dallas Area High School Mountaineers football fan and a 50-plus year member of Trucksville United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Helen Roushey Gaylord, and sisters, Olive Fausey and Virginia Donlin.
Surviving are his son, Ron Gaylord and wife, Linda, Harveys Lake; daughter, Lori Pettit and husband, David, Shavertown; grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Kopec, Kevin Lee Gaylord, Ryan Pettit and Julianne Pettit; great-granddaughters, Crista Rose Kopec and twins, Adelle Faith and Bella Grace Kopec; brother, Herbert Gaylord, Springville; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Trucksville United Methodist Church, 17 W. Church Road, Trucksville. Interment will be made in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, PA 18708.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Back Mountain Food Bank, c/o Trucksville United Methodist Church, 40 Knob Hill Road, Trucksville, PA 18708.
