Helen Repshas

Helen Repshas, 86, formally of Luzerne, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 17, 2013, in Kindred Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

Helen was born in Kingston, daughter of the late Charles and Martha Mazeltas Yakus, and was a life resident of Luzerne prior to her illness. She graduated from Luzerne High School in 1944 and served as class president.

She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Helen was a choir member, and prior to her illness was active in parish activities and the Altar and Rosary society. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Social Security Administration, Wilkes-Barre.

Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony; brothers, Charles, Edward, Frank, Anthony, Joseph, Albert; sisters, Irene Yakus, Florence Kamus, Nellie Lukesh, Jule Drakas, Mary Adamchick and Ann Baltruchitis.

Surviving are children, Donald and wife, Dale, Reston, Va.; Dave and wife, Carol, Forty Fort; Judy Repshas, White Haven; Christine Berger and husband, Marvin, Harrisburg; grandchildren, Samuel and Michael Repshas, Emily Repshas and Benjamin Berger: brother, Leonard Yakus, Omaha, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Inc., 568 Bennett St., Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, with the Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday.

The family expresses their appreciation to Helen's caregiver including the staff at HCR Manor Care, Kingston, and staff of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and Kindred Care. The ladies will recite the rosary at 6 p.m. Monday.
