Helen Wyda Partilla

Helen Wyda Partilla, 95, formerly of Moyallen Street, Wilkes-Barre, passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 6, 2012, at Keystone Garden Estates, Route 11, Plymouth, where she resided the past six years.

Born Aug. 3, 1917, in Luzerne, she was a daughter to the late George and Mary Mizenko Wyda. Educated in the city schools, she was a member of the 1934 graduating class of GAR Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre.

Until her retirement, she was employed by the local garment industry as a seamstress by the former Alan Manufacturing Co. of Ashley for many years.

Mrs. Partilla was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Wilkes-Barre, where she was previously active in church affairs. She was a member of St. Matthew's Quilters and held membership in the Dorcas Guild, and previously the Beacon Club at the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John Partilla, on Oct. 5, 1987; by brothers, George and Edward Wyda; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Svetz.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Narcum and her husband, Walter, Hunlock Creek; her son, Mr. John Partilla and his wife, Maureen, Phoenix, Md.; grandchildren, Mrs. Meredith Tseu, Mr. Walter J. Narcum, Mrs. Betsy Ann Gunby and Mrs. Katelein Hall; great-grandchildren, Jack and Charlie Narcum and Maddie and Ryan Tseu; sister, Mrs. Sophie Legates; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Partilla will be conducted at noon Friday in St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 663 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Gary John Scharrer, pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, St. Mary's Road, Hanover Township.

Relatives and friends are invited to join Helen's family directly at St. Matthew for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of services Friday.

Helen's family would like to gratefully acknowledge the professional caring staff of Keystone Garden Estates, more recently Hospice of the Sacred Heart, for the gentle compassion shown their mother in her final days.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Partilla's name to St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 663 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705, or to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
