Helene M. Paulina

Helene M. Paulina, 89, formerly of Swoyersville, Philadelphia and Kingston, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Kingston Commons, Kingston.

She was born in Kingston, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Brussock Ruseskas. She was a 1941 graduate of Kingston High School and a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Business College, which awarded her a certificate of excellence for the Palmer Method Handwriting two years in a row.

She was formerly employed as a secretary by several local businesses, as well as in Philadelphia.

She was greatly loved for her wit and humor. Helene loved playing cards, her favorite being pinochle.

The family would like to send special thanks to the staff of Asceracare Hospice and Kingston Commons, especially nurses Meg, Eileen and Shirley.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Sylvia, Roberta, Ruth and Genevieve Krasniak; and brothers, Joseph and Louis.

Helene is survived by her sisters, Rosalie Hoffman, Kingston; Mary Lou Williams, Horseheads, N.Y.; and Bernadine Barney, Virginia Beach, Va.; nieces, nephews and cousins, including her devoted nephew, Quentin Walzak.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerby Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Annunciation Cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call from 8 a.m. until the time of service Saturday.
