Herbert Dockett

Herbert Dockett, 91, of Avoca passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the Mountain View Care Center, Scranton.

He was born in Duryea on Sept. 2, 1921, and was the son of the late Walter and Jennie Mae Huddleson Dockett.

Herbert was a member of Brick United Methodist Church. He attended Avoca schools.

Herbert was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. After the war, he worked many years with the Moffat Coal Co. until its closing, and he retired from the Avoca Borough Street Commission.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes M. Faulend Dockett, on Jan. 23, 2012; his sister, Viola Hudick; and brothers, Kenneth, Wilson, Albert, Ruben and Walter.

Herbert is survived by his daughters, Arlene Dockett and Joyce Stefanko, Avoca; and his son, David, Avoca. Also surviving are his sisters, Grace Brunisifski, Avoca; Jen Gurzinski, Las Vegas; and Betty Rosenski, Avoca; and many nieces and nephews.

At Herbert's request, the funeral will be private and will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
