Jane Pesavento Grogan

Jane Pesavento Grogan, 63, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at her home in Kingston.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on May 12, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Carl Pesavento and Evelyn Metallic Pesavento.

She and her husband, William (Bill) Grogan, would have celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on June 16.

A life resident of Kingston, Jane graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1969, where she was the class salutatorian. She graduated magna cum laude from College Misericordia in 1973, and received a Master of Science degree from Wilkes University.

She began her career in education as a teacher at the former Bishop Hoban High School. For 35 years she worked as a project director of various state and federal projects at Luzerne Intermediate Unit 18, two of which were named "State Validated Programs" by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Jane was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, a national Catholic honor society. She served on the board of directors of the Child Development Council and Coordinated Child Care. She was a school board member at St. Nicholas-St. Mary's School, and a volunteer at Planned Parenthood.

In addition to her husband, Bill, she is survived by her daughter, Tracy and her husband, Kevin Specter; her sister, Joan Kwak; her sister-in-law, Tiffany Phillips; her mother-in-law, Rosemary Phillips; her father-in-law and his wife, Francis and Mary Grogan; her brother-in-law, David Grogan and his wife, Linda; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on June 21 for family and friends from Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, PA 18704.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Medical Oncology Associates Prescription Assistance Fund, 283 Pierce St., Kingston, PA 18704.
