Jean Cook, 82, of Gorham, Maine, formerly of Kingston, passed away peacefully Monday, June 3, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Pringle, she was the daughter of the late Margaret and Martin Connor.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Nesbitt Hospital for more than 20 years. She later worked with the Grandparents Program for the Wyoming Valley West School District, and was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion.
Jean appreciated people and the joy of life and was a loving mother, grandmother and dedicated friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Brown, and her husband, William F. Cook; and granddaughter, Jill Tongol, Beverly, Mass., who passed away in 2011.
Surviving are her daughter, Diane Aston, Gorham, Maine, and husband, Albert; three grandchildren, Dr. Janelle Evans, Cincinnati, Ohio; Richard J. Aston, Buxton, Maine, and his wife Jenn; and Jed Aston, Lancaster, and his wife, Meggan; and three great-granddaughters, Natalie Tongol, Charlotte Aston and Claire Aston.
A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Ignatius Church, Kingston, at 9:30 a.m. on July 16, with a burial service following at St. Ignatius Cemetery.
