Jean Renshaw Edwards

Jean Renshaw Edwards passed Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at The Meadows Nursing Home, Dallas.

Jean was the daughter of Robert and Blodwin Jonathan Renshaw of Idetown, born May 26, 1924.

A graduate of Lake Lehman High School and Southern Seminary, Buena Vista, Va., Jean's early career was with the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C.

When she married the love of her life, Harry (Buck) Edwards, the two went on to build a wonderful family and family business — Huntsville Nursery.

During her lifetime, Jean was an accomplished musician, artist, chef, seamstress and homemaker. She and her husband became world travelers, avid downhill skiers, tennis players and golfers. She was a Girl Scout leader for Penns Woods Troop 916, Lehman, and a member of Forty Fort United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, where she sang in the choir and also sang in the choir of the Roswell United Methodist Church, Roswell, Ga., for a brief time while living with her daughter. Upon her return to Pennsylvania, she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

It was a wonderful life filled with love, travel, adventure, close friendships and — the most cherished — her family.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: son, Richard A. Edwards, Courtland, N.Y., and grandsons, Eric and Brent Edwards, Cortland, N.Y., and Montreal, Canada; great-grandchildren, Zavier and Simon Edwards, Kaci and Alli Edwards; son, Ralph B. Edwards, Huntsville; granddaughters, Erin Windt Edwards, Louisville, Colo., and Meredith Edwards, Jackson Hole, Wyo.; great-grandchildren, Courtney and Andrew Windt; daughter, Carolyn Edwards Tardif, Marietta, Ga., and grandson, Thomas Tardif, Atlanta.

Friends and relatives may pay their respects from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave,, Forty Fort. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The interment will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service at the Irem Temple Country Club, where Jean and Buck Edwards were married 68 years ago.

The family wishes to thank all those involved in her care from the Meadows Independent Living, Assisted Living and Nursing Home for their loving kindness over the past years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Meadows Manor, 220 Lake St., Dallas, PA 18612.
