John (Jack) Hannon, of the Newtown section of Hanover Township, died Sunday morning, June 29, 2014, in Celtic Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Charles and Veronica Desko Hannon Sr. and was a graduate of Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.
Jack served in the Marine Reserves and was employed by PPL Electric as a repair technician.
He was a former member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, St. Mary's of the Immaculate Conception Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Mr. Hannon was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Hannon Jr.; daughter in law, Cheryl Hannon; and niece, Stacy Elias Davis.
He is survived by his wife, the former Maria C. (Connie) Cora; daughter, Donna Hannon, Gainsville, Fla.; son, John Hannon, Hunlock Creek; daughter, Carol Hannon and her companion, Ron Antolick, Ashley; son, Marty Hannon, Hanover Township; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Madelyn Elias and her husband, George, Trucksville; sister, Eleanor Mergo and her husband, Richard, West Lake, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Wednesday from Lehman Family Funeral Service Inc., 689 Hazle Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo/Holy Rosary Church, 33 Manhattan St., Ashley at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Theodore Obaza will officiate.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
