John J. Kundrat, 84, of Wyoming passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
His wife is the former Elizabeth (Betsy) Medvec, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.
Born May 29, 1929, in Swoyersville, he was the son of the late Andrew and Anna Ondish Kundrat.
He was a graduate of Swoyersville High School.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of the Korean conflict
He was employed by the American Can Co. before retiring from Techneglas.
John was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church, Carverton. He was a member of American Legion Post 644, Swoyersville, and the Knights of Columbus Assumpta Council 3987, Luzerne.
Some of John's greatest joys were mushroom picking in the woods, tending to his vegetable garden and, most of all, spending time with his family.
He was preceeded in death by an infant sister, Ann, and twin brother, Andrew.
Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth (Betsy) Medvec; children, Jayne Krispin, Dallas; Deborah Baldygo and her husband, Chris, Shickshinny; John Jr., Wyoming; and Lisa Culver and her husband, Michael, Dallas; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Jesse and Joshua Baldygo; Freddy and Suzanne Krispin; A.J. and Amber Frania and Travis Culver; two great-grandchildren, Nathan Dereamer and Jasmyne Kriedler; brother, George Kundrat, Whitehouse Station, N.J.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with the Rev. James J. Paisley officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family requests that flowers be omitted.
