John L. Roushey Sr. of Trucksville died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at age 99 at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas.
John was born June 24, 1914, a son of Lewis and Bess Roushey of Trucksville. He went to the Trucksville and Kington Township schools.
He owned and operated Roushey's Repair for 45 years.
John's favorite pastimes were his garden, as well as fishing, and playing horseshoes with his family. He was a member of Trucksville United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma; second wife, Mary; son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Judy Roushey, wife of John Jr.; and sisters, Matilda Croom, Betty Shoemaker, Pearl Walton and Helen Gaylord.
Surviving are his son, John Jr., Trucksville; stepdaughters, Jane Holbrook and husband, Scott, June Lapolla and husband, Lenny, and Sylvia Bratton and husband, Walt; stepsons, Ronald Burnett (Sharron) and Edward Burnett (Tracey); sister, Hazel Garris, Dallas; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held privately from Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with the Rev. Richard H. Williams officiating. Interment will be in Wardan Cemetery, Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trucksville United Methodist Church, 40 Knob Hill Road, Trucksville, PA 18704, or the local SPCA.
