John Ruda

John Ruda, 76, of Hunlock Creek passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Ashley, and was the son of the late Edward and Stacia Ruda.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only brother, Joseph Ruda.

John was employed by General Cigar and Wilkes University until his retirement. Throughout his life, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and had a great love for the outdoors. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.

Surviving are his wife, Maryann Ruda and his three daughters, Mary Ruda, at home; Debra Yanchus and her husband, Frank, Larksville; and Janet Archer and her husband, Brian, Hanover Township. He is also survived by his grandchildren.

John's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care and compassion.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Good Shepherd Polish National Catholic Church, Plymouth. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery, West Nanticoke.

Family and friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
