John Shields Carr

John Shields Carr, 72, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Monday, July 14, 2014, with his family by his side.

Born April 30, 1942, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mary Rowan Carr.

John was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and served in the Air Force Reserves.

John retired from his career in restaurant management in 2006.

A brother, Thomas Carr, preceded him in death.

He will be greatly missed by his sons, Jason and his wife, Lori Carr, Saylorsburg; and Brian and his wife, Becky Carr, Pittsburgh; grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Nolan Patrick, Sydney Elizabeth, Brennan Thomas and Sophia Ragan Carr, all of Pittsburgh; his former wife and longtime friend, Pat Stephens Carr; brother, Donald Carr, Laurel Run; sister, Marilyn Carson, Dallas; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A celebration of John's life will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday from McLaughlin's – The Family Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Aloysius. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
