Joseph A. Novak, 94, formerly of Luzerne, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Kingston, son of the late John and Anna Miklish Novak, he attended Pringle High School.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Sordoni Construction for 30 years.
He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Knights of Columbus Assumpta Council 3987 of Luzerne, and a fourth-degree member of Our Lady of Czestochowa.
He was known to relatives and friends as Uncle Joe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Nellie Yearuseavich; brothers, George, John, Peter and Michael Novak; and sisters, Martha Piazza, Mary Novak, Anna Jacolik and Helen Mollusky.
He is survived by his nephew, Jim Novak, who regularly visited him at Riverstreet Manor; nieces, Marcella Mulhern and Frances Mollusky; and other nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, 568 Bennett St., Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Parish, with the Rev. Michael Zipay officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Sunday by the Knights of Columbus.
