Joseph E. Yanora, 92, a former resident of Palmer Street, Plymouth, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 28, 2014, at Manorcare Health and Rehabilitation Center, Kingston.
His wife was the late Jeanette E. Barto Yanora, who passed away Nov. 17, 2010.
Born March 10, 1921, in Wilkes-Barre, Joseph was the son of the late Rocco and Maria Fiore Yanora.
Raised in Wilkes-Barre, Joseph was a graduate of GAR Memorial High School, Class of 1939.
A U.S. Army
veteran, Joseph honorably served his country during World War II
. Upon his honorable discharge, he attained the rank of technician fifth grade.
Prior to his retirement, Joseph was employed for seven years as a driver by Roadway Express. In his earlier years, he was employed for 26 years as a driver by Associated Transport.
Joseph was a faithful member of the former St. Therese Church, Wilkes-Barre.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers.
Joseph is survived by his children, Joseph Yanora, Jo Ann Soutter, Linda LaBuono and Doreen Crush; his six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Blessing service, which will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.
Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, where military honors will be accorded.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
