Joseph F. Thomas Sr., 71, of Mountain Top entered peacefully into eternal rest Thursday, July 31, 2014, under the great care of the Celtic Hospice at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Joseph was married to his beautiful wife, Joan, for more than 50 years.
He served his country for more than 30 years, defending our freedom, as an Army sergeant and as a Navy first class petty officer, during the Korean War, Vietnam War, and Desert Storm conflict. When not defending his country, he worked for King Fifth Wheel for more than 37 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Mountain Top Post 781, and of the White Haven Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Joseph lived his life with honor, courage and commitment.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; his three children, Renee, Joseph Jr. and Mark; his nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Joseph touched are invited to McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at McCune Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will immediately follow in Albert Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Wounded Warriors Foundation or the Celtic Hospice.
