Joseph Francis Filchak, 90, of Hanover Township passed away Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 9, 2013, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born March 23, 1922, in Plymouth, he was the son of the Late Stephen and Helen Filchak.
Joseph was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1940. He served in the Army
Air Corps in World War II
. He graduated from Wyoming Seminary Business School.
Before retiring, he was employed by City Chevrolet, and also Valley Chevrolet of Wilkes-Barre, a total of 47 years.
He was active in collectibles and antiques, and was a member of American Legion Post 815, Wilkes-Barre Township.
Joseph and his wife celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary Feb. 19, 2012.
He was a member of St. Aloysius, Hanover Township.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen.
He survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth; children, Mark and his wife, Victoria, Nanticoke; and David and his wife, Bisola, New Jersey; two loving grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 679 Carey Ave., Hanover Township, with interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hudson. Close friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
