Joseph P. Wajers

Joseph P. Wajers, 63, of Wilkes-Barre Township passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Timber Ridge Health Care Center, Plains Township.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre on May 28, 1950. He was the son of the late Joseph R. and Dolores Golden Wajers.

He was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School and Wilkes College, Wilkes-Barre.

He was employed by R&H Manufacturing, Larksville, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Lodge 677.

He was a member of St. Andrew Parish, Wilkes-Barre.

He enjoyed following sports, most especially football and baseball, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also had a love for music. In his earlier years, he loved to play his Gibson guitar for his local band that he played with.

Surviving are his brother, Brian Wajers; niece, Becky, and nephew, Scott; great-nieces and great-nephews; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Andrew Parish.

Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Family and friends may call from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday.
