Joseph (Rock) Stahovic

Joseph (Rock) Stahovic, 67, of Bear Creek Township passed away Monday morning, Dec. 30, 2013, at his home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Joseph Anthony and Martha Figler Stahovic.

Rock was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1964, and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he was employed as a heavy diesel mechanic and a generator technician by Cleveland Brothers for 23 years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Wilkes-Barre Township American Legion, Post 815.

Rock was an avid guitar player who loved his Fender guitars and playing music with his friends whenever he could. He had a true affection for his 1976 Harley-Davidson and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also was active in many dart leagues throughout the Wyoming Valley. Rock would not miss going to see his grandkids at their sporting events, whether it was wrestling, cheerleading, T- ball, soccer, field hockey or football. His grandkids meant the world to him. He loved spending time with his family vacationing in the Caribbean and Virginia Beach and enjoying a few cold ones with his friends.

He and his wife, the former Carol Smacher, would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on Jan. 27, 2014.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Barrett.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Carol, are his daughter, Lori Chase and her husband, Matthew, Bear Creek Township; son, Rock Stahovic and his wife, Robyn, Plains Township; grandchildren, Ashley and Matthew Chase, and Tait and Teague Stahovic; sisters, Andrena Pacholyk and her husband, John, Jordan, N.Y.; and Melody Stahovic, Wilkes-Barre; nieces and nephews.
