Judith Olivia Macfarren Balita, 67, of Courtdale passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at her home.
Born in Harrow, England, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Ivor Jackson Macfarren and Dorothy Hoskins Macfarren.
Judith received her early education in England. She came to the United States in 1967, where she earned a degree in business management.
Judith worked for a number of years as a nurse's aide, cosmetologist and managed the salons of the former Fowler Dick & Walker department stores in Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton. She opened her own shop in 1974 and had lived and worked in the Wyoming Valley since her arrival in 1967.
She volunteered for the Victims Resource Center for many years and was a member of FANN.
Judith was a member of Courtdale United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and life companion. She also is survived by brothers, nieces and nephews, who reside in the United Kingdom.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Courtdale United Methodist Church, 225 Courtdale Ave., Courtdale. The Rev. Cheryl Cavalari will officiate. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
