Libero (Lee) Passeri

Libero (Lee) Passeri, 89, of West Wyoming, formerly of the East End section of Wilkes Barre, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family Tuesday morning, Aug. 27, 2013, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Robert and Josephine Guistiniani Passeri. He attended the Wilkes-Barre area schools.

Lee had served his country in the Army during World War II and had received the Purple Heart.

He was the owner and operator of Passeri's East End Market for 45 years.

His greatest gift in life was his family. His unyielding love for his life and for others served as the finest example for his children and grandchildren.

Lee enjoyed listening to opera, sitting on his porch, watching football and especially family vacations at the beach. He will always be remembered as a beloved husband, devoted father and loving grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Neri.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Angela DiMaria; son, Robert Passeri and his wife, Mary, Laflin; daughter, Josephine Toomey and her husband, Paul, West Wyoming; grandchildren, Jennefer Passeri and Teresa Toomey; sisters, Angela Schipilliti, Miami, Fla.; and Sophie Aberbach, Cary, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecilia's Church, Exeter, with the Rev. Joseph Verespy officiating. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Kish for more than 30 years of great care, concern and support.
