Lois E. Kretchmer, 56, of Shavertown passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, surrounded by family in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Mehoopany, Lois was the daughter of Erma Crispell Nulton, Wilkes-Barre, and the late Rev. Donald G. Nulton.
Lois was a member of the Girl Scouts of America.
She was a 1975 honors graduate of GAR High School, Wilkes-Barre, where she was a majorette and enrolled in their college preparatory program.
Lois was a graduate of Empire Beauty School, becoming a licensed cosmetologist as well as being licensed to teach in the field. She earned certification in the medical terminology field from Luzerne County Community College and was formerly employed by the medical records department of John Heinz Institute, Wilkes-Barre.
She loved butterflies, gardening, knitting, crocheting and time spent at Rehoboth Beach, Del. Lois loved Christmas, it was her favorite holiday. Most of all, she especially loved her family and they will miss her greatly.
Lois was formerly active in the Meade Street Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she was the assistant organist and pianist. She was a member of Trucksville United Methodist Church and had resided in Shavertown since 1984.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband of 29 years, Dr. Donald S. Kretchmer, Shavertown; daughter, Amanda Dawn Brezovsky and husband, Justin, Shavertown; son, Michael Andrew Kretchmer, Shavertown; brother, Tim Nulton, West Pittston; and nephews, Tyler and Jordan Nulton.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of family, with interment in Carverton Cemetery, Carverton. The Rev. Charles H. Grube, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dallas, will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.
