Margaret Ann (Marge) Semanski

Margaret (Marge) Ann Semanski, 78, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born July 27, 1935, Margaret was the daughter of Edward and Helen Donnelly. Margaret was raised in the Goose Island section of Wilkes-Barre, graduating from E.L. Meyers High School in 1953.

Margaret was previously employed by Faith Shoe Co., Rea & Derick Drugs, and Percy Brown's in Wilkes-Barre. Margaret retired from working behind the deli counter for many years at Boscov's in Wilkes-Barre.

Margaret was a former social member of the Oak Grove Club in Wilkes-Barre and enjoyed being part of her high school reunion committee, celebrating their 60th anniversary in 2013.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Frank (Sam) Semanski; brother, Edward; and sisters, Rita, Mary and Helene.

Surviving are her son, Frank and his wife, Marilyn, Hanover Township; daughters, Helen, Wilkes-Barre; and Kathie Schemery and her husband, Larry, Stillwater; nephew, Brandon Schemery and his wife, Whitney, Jim Thorpe; niece, Loren Schemery, Stillwater; brothers, Joseph and his wife, Terri, and James and his companion, Mary; and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret's family is sincerely grateful for the outstanding efforts afforded her by the professional staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, including the ER, ICU, Trauma and OR staffs. Thank you for your valiant effors and kindness shown to Margaret and her family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the St. Andrew Parish/St. Patrick Church site, 316 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service.

In honor of Margaret's pride in her Irish heritage, the "Wearin' of the Green" would be appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's name may be made to St. Andrew Parish or the Spiritual Care Department at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
