Marie S. Bowman, 87, of Downingtown passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in Brandywine Hospital.
She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth L. Bowman, with whom she shared 26 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 1970.
Born in Lykens, Marie was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Victoria E. Sholley Troutman.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Downingtown.
Marie's family was her life; she loved spending time with them, especially on Sunday afternoons when she made dinner for them. She also loved to socialize on her front porch. According to her children, she was the hardest-working woman they ever knew and she was the best Mum-Mum ever.
She was a very special hoagie maker at different delis throughout her life. She lived at her home in Downingtown for 57 years, but she did enjoy returning to her home town of Lykens. Marie will remain in our hearts and we will miss her. "Another of the greatest generation."
Mrs. Bowman is survived by her children, Shirley (James) Sheehan, New Jersey; Thomas (Maria) Bowman, Plains Township; and John (Dorothy) Bowman, Downingtown; seven grandchildren, Deborah (Robert) Barriero, David (Kristin) Sheehan, Shawn, Jason, Amanda, Angela and Tommy Bowman; six great grandchildren, Alexa and Miranda Barriero, Haley, Jake, Matthew and Luke Sheehan; a brother, Charles Troutman, Harrisburg; and Jackie Alexander, Leola; and many nieces and nephews. Marie had a special spot in her heart for Shawn, who checked on her every morning and often spent evenings with her.
In addition to her husband, Marie was also predeceased by her son, Joseph K. Bowman; granddaughter, Desiree Bowman; and brother, Joseph Troutman.
An evening visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City.
