Mary B. (Morrissey) Dougher

Mary B. (Morrissey) Dougher, 81, of Wilkes-Barre and Bradenton, Fla., passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

She was born in Ashley on Feb. 6, 1931, a daughter to the late William J. and Charlotte Carlin Morrissey. She was a graduate of GAR High School, Class of 1948, and also of Middlesex County College, Edison, N.J., where she obtained an associate degree in liberal arts. She was a life member of St. Patrick's Church and of the St. Andrew's Parish Community, Wilkes-Barre, and of St. Peter & Paul's Church, Bradenton, Fla.

Mary and her family resided in Piscataway and North Edison, N.J., for 43 years prior to returning to the Wilkes-Barre area. She had traveled the world extensively including the United States from East to West coasts. She enjoyed the fine arts and botanical gardens. She was a proud member of the Donegal Society, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic and the Big Band Society. Mary also was a member of Pine Brook/Ironwood Ladies Golf Association, Bradenton, Fla.

Her charitable generosity was shown by her work with the Lokuta Children of St. Joseph's Indian School, North Dakota, and her support of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Jane Morrissey; a brother, William J. Morrissey; and a sister, Geraldine Morrissey.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, William G. Dougher, Wilkes-Barre; daughter, Tara M. Donato, North Palm Beach, Fla.; sons, William P. Dougher, Bradenton, Fla.; Sean P. Dougher and his wife, Faith, Somerset, N.J.; and Brendan P. Dougher and his wife, Marianne, Basking Ridge, N.J.; grandchildren, Megan, Maureen and Allison Donato; Shannon, Collin, Erin, Caitlyn and Brendan B. Dougher; great-grandchildren, Rolando Zeledon and Calista Garguilio; sisters, Charlotte McGinty and Patricia Silvani, North Port, Fla.; and Nancy Reimel, Wynewood; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45 a.m. in St. Andrew's Parish, Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. James E. McGahagan, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
