Mary Leach

Mary Leach, LPN, 75, and a life resident of Wilkes Barre, died Thursday evening, Nov. 21, 2013, at Golding Living Center - Summit.

She was born on Nov. 22, 1937, daughter of the late William Leach, Leona Gunton Lapinski and stepfather, Stanley Lapinski. Mary graduated St. Mary's High School, Class of 1955, before working as a licensed practical nurse for several local nursing homes. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church in Wilkes-Barre.

She is survived by two sisters, Helen Kennedy, Ashley; and Joan Schooley, Nanticoke; brother, Joseph Leach, Wilkes-Barre; goddaughter, Mary Lee Franklin, Edwardsville; and many nieces and nephews. A sister, Leona Albert; a brother, Stanley Leach; and brothers-in-law, Edward Kennedy and Harvey Schooley, also preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Church, Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 134 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, to be celebrated by Monsignor Thomas V. Banick, pastor. A private viewing will precede the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery.
