Mary Wychock

Mary Wychock, 82, of Mountain Top passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Born Nov. 22, 1930, she was the daughter of late Jacob and Catherine Kotch of Wilkes-Barre.

Mary graduated from Coughlin High School in 1949 and married Carl Wychock in 1953. Together they raised seven children.

Mary was a business owner for many years alongside her husband, Carl. They ran Christy Fashions in Glen Lyon for 20 years and then Wychock's Beverage.

Mary was a longtime member of St. Jude's Parish. She volunteered her time to many organizations. These included the Mountain Top Women's Club, the Altar and Rosary Society and St. Jude's Church.

Mary was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Throughout her life, Mary was hard-working and committed to her family. Mary was a wonderful cook and avid gardener. She also enjoyed many craft projects.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Catherine; and brother, Jacob.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Carl, and their seven children, Karen Wychock, Warrington; Carl Wychock Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, Mountain Top; Mary Wychock, Mountain Top; Joseph Wychock and his wife, Vickie, Brackney; Judy Sawka and her husband, Ted, Mountain Top; Michael Wychock and his wife, Laura, White Haven; and Christine Dopp and her husband, Ed, Mountain Top; 12 grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathan, Katie, Rachel, Teddy, Emily, Jennifer, Adam, Matthew, Nathan, Jacob and Natalie; and one great-grandchild, Jakob.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from Desiderio Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Jude's Church, Route 309, Mountain Top.

Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 436 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the St. Jude Building Fund, 422 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, PA 18707.
