Matushka Barbara J. Mahally, 72, of Wilkes-Barre fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, surrounded by her family at Timber Ridge Health Care Center, Wilkes-Barre. Her husband of 45 years is Deacon Peter Mahally.
She was born Jan. 20, 1941, in Hazleton, the daughter of the late Nicholas DeBalko and Anna Butz DeBalko.
She was a hairdresser, a graduate of Empire Beauty School, Wilkes-Barre. She also was formerly employed by RCA Picture Tube, Mountain Top.
She was a faithful member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Seneca Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, Deacon Peter, are her son, Peter Mahally and his wife, Deborah, Zionsville; her sister, Joyce Macus, Sheppton; three grandchildren, Kayla, Emma and Joshua; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Seneca Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Archpriest Michael Lepa officiating.
Interment will follow in the Orthodox Lawn of Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas.
Family and friends may call at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. A Parastas service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to her church.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Simon S. Russin Funeral Home, 136 Maffett St., Plains Township.
