Michael LaBella

Michael LaBella of Philadelphia passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse, Philadelphia. He was the husband of Janice Manganiello LaBella.

Born April 9, 1943, in Norristown, he was a son of Mary Brown Harbaugh and the late Frank LaBella.

He graduated from Connellsville Joint High School. He then went on to graduate from Atlantic Community College, where he obtained his nursing degree. After he received his nursing degree he then acquired his surgical physician's assistant Bachelor of Science degree from the Philadelphia School of Textiles & Science. He later went on to become a certified perioperative nurse.

Michael was enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era, where he served as a physician's assistant.

He was a member of the Association for Operating Room Nurses and a life member of the NRA.

Following his enlistment, he was employed as a charge nurse for GYN and GYN Oncology in the operating room at Temple Universality Hospital.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and his mother, are his daughters, Christina & Gianna LaBella, Philadelphia; and son, Michael and wife, Eileene Ferguson, Williamstown, N.J.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Joseph Marello Parish, William Street, Pittston, at 10 a.m. Saturday. The family will receive people at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the Mass. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
