Michael S. (Sonny) Dombroski

Michael S. (Sonny) Dombroski, 69, of Mountain Top passed away Friday evening, March 29, 2013, at Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on April 11, 1943, he was the son of Anna Sudol Dombroski of Wilkes-Barre, and the late Stanley M. Dombroski, and had attended GAR Memorial High School.

Michael was a United States Navy veteran, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He was employed as an operating engineer with Local 542. He was a member of St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top, as well as American Legion Post 780. He was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and volunteered at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 21 years, Eleanor (Klinko) Smurl Dombroski; sons, Michael Aument, Hatfield; and Stan Madero, Laurel, Md.; stepchildren, Christopher Smurl, Montoursville; Pamela Smurl Fry. Harveys Lake; four grandsons; three stepgrandchildren; sisters, Roslyn Wengrocki and her husband, Jacob; Mary Ann Moran and her husband, Edward; and Diane Michaels and her husband, Thomas, all of Mountain Top; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top. Anyone attending the Mass is asked to go directly to the church.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bednarski & Thomas Funeral Home, 27 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary's Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Church Building Fund, 420 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, PA 18707.
