Peggy L. Dorang

Peggy L. Dorang, 68, of Hanover Township died Friday evening, Nov. 22, 2013, in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center at Presbyterian Hospital after a long illness.

Born and educated in Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Paul Brown and Margaret (Whitson) Brown Zambo and Joseph Zambo.

She was an active member of Firwood Methodist Church, having served on its board of trustees. She volunteered with CEO at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts and the John Heinz Institute. She was a member of the Heather Highlands Red Hats. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Reese; brother, Daniel Brown; and niece, Debra Jordan.

She is survived by her loving companion of more than 25 years, Silas Blaine, Hunlock Creek; son, Joseph III, Wilkes-Barre; son, Paul and wife, Darlene, Union Dale; daughter, Catherine and husband, James, West Pittston; and son, Christopher and wife, Yarelis Hernandez, League City, Texas.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Paul Jr., Jonelle, Bridget, Joseph IV, Andrew and Matthew Dorang and James Jr. and Thomas Rose. She is further survived by her siblings, Paul Brown, Jeanette Lorenzetti, Gail Brown and Joseph Zambo.

The family would like to thank the nursing and respiratory therapy staff at UPMC for their loving and professional care throughout Peggy's 515 days in the hospital following double lung transplant. The family is especially grateful to Dr. Joylin DeLuna for providing exceptional care and support to Peggy and her family.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township. Interment will be held in Memorial Shrine Burial Park, Carverton. Friends are invited to visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made in Peggy's name to Family House, 5001 Baum Blvd., Suite 545, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
