Phillip G. Hitchings

Phillip G. Hitchings, 78, of Trucksville passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born Dec. 13, 1934, in Luzerne, he was a son of the late Charles and Georgina Tudgay Hitchings.

Phil was a graduate of Kingston High School.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany.

Prior to retiring, he was employed by Glen Carbonic Gas Co., Plymouth, as a serviceman.

Phil was a huge fan of Penn State.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Nancy Anderson; children, Charlene and Michael Chicalo, Stratford, N.J.; and Carri-Beth and John White, Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandsons, Michael, Jack, Andrew and Luke; sister, Esther Sivulich, Plainfield, N.J.; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 474 Yalick Road (off Route 118), Dallas, with the Rev. Charles H. Grube officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the Luzerne County SPCA.
