Raymond Meyers

Raymond Meyers, 100, a resident of Tavern Road, Hunlock Creek, passed away at home Monday, Jan. 21, 2013.

He was born Dec. 14, 1912, in Drums, a son of the late Ernest and Lottie Young Meyers.

Raymond attended Calvary Bible Chapel and served as deacon. He was self-employed as a timber man and was employed in the construction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Shickshinny Lake.

Surviving are his daughter, Dena R. Gregory and husband, Arthur, Shickshinny Lake; sons, Dale R. Meyers and wife, Sharon, Ballston, N.Y.; and Duane L. Meyers and wife, Donna, Hunlock Creek; daughter-in-law, Loretta Meyers, Benton; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Alverna Meyers and Elroe Harding.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 72 years, Mildred Bonham Meyers; son, Allan Meyers; grandson, Michael L. Meyers; great-grandson, Tyler Pearson; brother, Paul Meyers; and sister, Rachel Schenck.

The family would like to thank Commonwealth Personal Care and caregivers, Mollie, Carole and Liz.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Bible Chapel, Hunlock-Harveyville Road, Hunlock Creek, with the Rev. Neil Martin officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m.

Calling hours will also be at Clarke Piatt Funeral Home Inc., 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek, from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Hunlock Creek.
