Richard F. (Rich) Daley

Richard F. (Rich) Daley, 87, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 27, 2012.

He was born in Wilkes Barre on Feb. 2, 1925, the son of the late Lester and Edith (Squance) Daley. He graduated from GAR High School, Class of 1943, and then served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps, 15th Air Force, 461st Bomb Group. A resident of Mountain Top since 1951, he worked as a mechanic most of his life at Daley's Blue Line Transfer.

Rich was an active member of the Mountain Top Presbyterian Church, serving as elder, clerk of session, trustee, Sunday school teacher and choir member.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, the former Ruth Gyle; three children; son, Kevin and his wife, Cecilia, Virginia Beach, Va.; daughter, Karen, Virginia Beach, Va.; and daughter, Beth Ellis and husband, Tony, Mountain Top; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Griffin, Jaime Schad, Angel Daley, Jessica Daley, Randi Daley Brown, Stacy Johnson, Shannon Mobley, Anthony Ellis, Matthew Ellis, Christopher Daley, Maria Ellis; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Louise Carver and Sara Daley; and brothers, William, Robert and Arthur.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, 9 Chestnut St., Mountain Top. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top.
