Robert F. (Bob) Covert

Bob Covert, 82, of Swoyersville passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Monday, Feb. 11, 2013.

Born May 20, 1930, he was the son of the late Sanford and Anna Caruthers Covert of Forty Fort.

Bob worked as a constable for Swoyersville for 14 years, Wyoming Mills, Forty Fort Lumber, United Pants Factory and retired from Air Products and Chemical, Hanover Township. After retiring he worked with Monsignor John Sempa at Holy Name Church, St. Mary's Church, Swoyersville, St. John's Church, Wilkes-Barre, and Corpus Christi, West Pittston, as a maintenance director.

Bob was preceded in death by his sons, Thomas F., in 1981; and Donald T., in 1998; grandson, Joseph E., in 1997; brothers, Lewis and Alexander; and sister, Margaret.

Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Kaminski, with whom he celebrated 62 years together; sons, Robert J. and wife, Charlene, Forty Fort; Joseph P. and wife, Dr. Filomena Covert, Shavertown; and Paul, Moscow; daughter, Linda, Kingston; and daughter-in-law, Mary Rose Covert, Hughestown.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Rachael Saunders, Justin, Kristen, Eric J., Elizabeth and Joshua Covert; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Meghan, Alexis, Stephen, Joey and Jenna; several nieces and nephews; and a great-nephew, Zeb.

Bob and his wife, Helen, enjoyed many wonderful trips after retiring. He also would go for daily rides with his wife visiting various churches and enjoying the countryside.

His daughter, Linda, was his caregiver. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care and compassion.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Swoyersville, with the Rev. Joseph Pisaneschi, Monsignor John Sempa and the Rev. Louis Grippe officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the rosary at 7 p.m. conducted by Knights of Columbus Assumpta Council 12976, Luzerne.
