Robert J. Lloyd

Robert J. Lloyd, 83, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Commonwealth Hospice, St. Luke's Villa, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 14, 1929, he was a son of the late James A. Lloyd and Martha Doty George. He was the stepson of the late Merlyn George. He was a graduate of Lake-Lehman High School.

Robert was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division.

He was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and making models.

During the 1950s, he was employed by the former Percy Brown's, Wilkes-Barre. During the 1960s, he moved to New Jersey, where he worked as a bus driver for New Jersey Public Transportation. In the 1970s, he returned to Wilkes-Barre, where he was a furniture repairman at People's Household, Wilkes-Barre, until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 6-year-old brother, Edward.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, the former Sandra J. Arasim; his daughter, Jean Holmgren and her husband, Matthew, Kingston; and his beloved dog and best friend, Barney.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Maple Hill Cemetery.
