Robert Keith Walter

F-T2/SS Robert Keith Walter, 28, of Springville, stationed aboard USS Emory S Land AD39, passed into eternity Jan. 8, 2013, at the U.S. Naval Base in Guam.

Robert was born in Charleston, S.C., on Jan. 9, 1985, and is the son of Bryan and Brenda (Butler) Walter of Springville.

Mr. Walter graduated from Montrose High School in 2004. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he received training in electronics, submarine sonar and fire control systems. He was formerly stationed on the USS Connecticut SSN22 in New London, Conn., as a submarine fire control specialist.

Robert enjoyed reading, music, computer gaming, telling jokes and the tropical beaches in Guam. He was an extraordinary complex person, but was always there for his family. He lived a full life with passion.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Lei Walter, Whitehall; brother, Andrew Walter, Whitehall; paternal grandmother, Janet Ramey, Katy, Texas; maternal grandmother, Rita Butler, Noxen; nephew, James Walter, Whitehall; aunts, uncles, and cousins whom will miss him greatly.

A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., Route 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Gary W. Haskell Sr., pastor of the Jackson Baptist Church, officiating.

Robert's family will receive visitors from 5 to 7:45 p.m. prior to the service. A private interment will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
