Rose Andrewscavage, formerly Rose Emma, 77, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, surrounded by her family in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Rose was a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was born in Pittston on Jan. 5, 1937. She was the daughter of the late William and Jule Emma.
After graduating from St. John's High School in 1955, Rose met her beloved husband of 56 years, Chuck Andrewscavage, while they were both working at the cigar factory in West Pittston. Rose also worked in her family's business at Emma's on the Trail, where she became an amazing cook and befriended many of the regular customers.
In their retirement, Rose and Chuck enjoyed spending their time together, including going out to eat every night, going to the flea market at Hometown, playing cards with relatives and having nearly perfect attendance at their granchildren's events.
Rose is survived by her husband, Chuck Andrewscavage; her son, Chick Andrewscavage and wife, Donna, Exeter; her grandson, Chip Andrewscavage and wife, Danae, Manhattan; her grandson, Sam Andrewscavage, Exeter; her brother, Joseph Emma and wife, Joyce, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from Kizis-Lokuta Funeral Home, 134 Church St., Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist, William Street, Pittston.
Interment will be held in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Pittston.
