Ruth Hayward Clemons, 82, of Manorcare, Kingston and former longtime resident of South Welles Street, Wilkes-Barre, entered into eternal rest Saturday evening, Nov. 16, 2013, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born April 4, 1931, in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Bertha Sprow Hayward. Ruth was a member of the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima and a communicant at the Church of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Her husband, Larry Clemons died in 1988. Brothers, Robert, Donald, Raymond and Walter Hayward; and a sister, Shirley Hayward, also preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Mary Ann Clemons, Wilkes-Barre; Larry and his wife, Jerri Clemons, Hanover Township; Joseph, Michael and James Clemons, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Kelli and Matthew Clemons and Ryan Richards; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ruth's entire family is grateful to the staff of Manorcare and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for their compassionate care.
A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from McLaughlin's – The Family Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
