Sophie Juzwicki

Sophie (Sophia) D. Juzwicki of Kingston died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in St. Luke's Villa, Wilkes-Barre, after an illness.

Born in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Stella Ruszewski Juzwicki.

She was educated at Ss. Peter and Paul School, Plains Township, and was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 1942.

After graduation she moved to New York City and was employed by McGraw-Hill Publishing Co., in the mailroom. Sophie also worked for the U.S. Postal Service. After retirement, Sophie resided in Florida for a short time until she returned to the Wyoming Valley.

Sophie was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains Township.

Sophie enjoyed traveling and taking excursions to New York City.

She was preceded in death by brothers Peter, Joseph and John, and sisters, Marion Wysocki and Eleanor Konopko.

Sophie is survived by nephew John Wysocki, New Jersey; nieces, Geraldine Tilton, New Jersey; Mary Earley, New York; and Antoinette Clark, New Jersey; numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews; and friends, Karen and Frank Nallon, Kingston.

Funeral services will be held from Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark St., Plains Township, at 10 a.m. Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains Township. Interment will be held in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 am to time of service Saturday.
