Stella Veronica Roman Zionkowski Yashinski

Stella Veronica Roman Zionkowski Yashinski, 97, of North East, Md., passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, in Union Hospital, Elkton, Md.

She was born in Nanticoke on March 9, 1916, the daughter of the late Tillie Godek Roman and Stanley Roman.

Stella worked in a silk mill in Plymouth and was a beautician in Sheatown and Nanticoke.

The family is most grateful to the entire staff at Heron's Creek Assisted Living for the wonderful care Stella received during her 18 months with them.

She is survived by two sons, Narcy (Rita) Zionkowski and Gerald Zionkowski; a daughter, Charlene (Raymond) Barno; stepchildren, Edward Yashinski and Barbara Yashinski; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind four sisters, Emily Waiter, Theresa Kerbaugh, Ann Zigmund and Charlotte Turowski.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Narcy Zionkowski and Edward Yashinski; brothers, John Roman and Adam Roman; sisters, Francis Granitski and Lee Belles; and grandsons David Zionkowski, Tyler Zionkowski and Joshua Zionkowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Faustina Parish, 520 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday from Stanley S. Stegura Funeral Home Inc., 614 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
