Susanne M. Stone

Susanne M. Stone, 61, of River Street, Forty Fort, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family following a long illness.

Susanne was born in Washington, D.C., and was the daughter of June Dillon Stone of Forty Fort and the late William F. Stone Sr. She was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School and then earned her Bachelor of Science degree from King's College. Later she earned her master's degree from Marywood College, Scranton.

She was an employee of Bank of America at Montage Mountain, and earlier by Nabi Biopharmaceuticals in Scranton, for many years. Susanne was formerly the judge of elections in Forty Fort and served on the Forty Fort Borough Council.

She had been a Eucharistic minister at the former Holy Name Church, formerly in Swoyersville.

Susanne was an avid sports fan, especially liking the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Yankees, Norte Dame and the Celtics.

Surviving, besides her mother, are her sister, Sharon Nichol, Dallas; and brother, William F. Stone Jr. and his wife, Beatrice, Forty Fort. She is also survived by five nieces and nephews, Tim and his wife, Sirena, Rebecca, Daniel, Sarah Nichol and Billy Stone, as well as seven great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday from Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, Kingston, with Monsignor Neil J. Van Loon officiating.

The interment will be in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
