Theodore T. Kopec

Theodore T. Kopec, 95, of Wilkes-Barre and formerly of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 27, 2012, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Hudson, he was the son of the late Jacob and Mary Cichocki Kopec and had attended Plains Township schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Prior to retirement, Theodore was employed by Armour Hot Dog Co. and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital dietary department. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish, Wilkes-Barre, and enjoyed polka dancing.

He was preceded in death by his son, Edward, in 1977; and by three sisters and three brothers.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, the former Helen Ziomek; daughter, JoAnna Sliwinski and her husband, Nicholas, Tunkhannock; son, Theodore M. and his wife, Marnie, Wilkes-Barre Township; grandchildren, Melissa Moyer and her husband, James; Jennifer Sliwinski; Todd Kopec and his wife, Melissa; Ted Kopec and Megan Kopec; great-grandchildren, Alexis Moyer, Jillian Kopec and Otis Kopec; sister, Josephine Nowak, Northumberland; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Hope Parish, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary's Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming. Friends may call from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Medical Oncology Associates Prescription Assistance Fund, 382 Pierce St., Kingston, PA 18704. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bednarski & Thomas Funeral Home, 27 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre.
